Man arrested after flight from police in St. John's

Shortly after 4:00 am, Patrol Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary attempted to stop a vehicle near Cochrane Pond in St. John's on the Trans Canada Highway and initiated a pursuit, but the driver failed to stop for police, but after a short time the pursuit was terminated in the interest of public safety.


About an hour later, another officer located the vehicle and was able to stop it. The 60 year old male was arrested for flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.


He was conveyed to the lockup. Police also impounded the vehicle.
