A 27-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after fleeing police and crashing a vehicle in the east end of St. John’s.

An officer attempted to stop a vehicle around 2:50 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the area of University Avenue. The driver refused to stop and sped away.

Officers later observed that the suspect vehicle had struck several parked vehicles near Stamps Lane. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police gave chase and arrested the suspect following a brief struggle. He was taken to the St. John’s lockup.

The man faces multiple charges, including trafficking in a controlled substance, flight from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and resisting arrest.
