Man arrested after dangerous driving near Tilton

The RCMP arrested a 21-year-old man after receiving a tip about a dangerous driver on Route 70 near Tilton.

Austin Nichols of Victoria was located a short time later on Columbus Drive in Carbonear and a traffic stop was conducted.

While police found no evidence of dangerous driving, Nichols was driving without a valid licence and was arrested at the traffic stop for failing to abide by conditions of his court release order, including failing to adhere by a curfew. The vehicle was neither registered nor insured and was seized and impounded.

The accused appeared in court over the weekend and he is charged with three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order and was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for a number of violations.
