Man arrested after confronting police with knives in St. John’s

A 59-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning after allegedly confronting police with knives at a residence in St. John’s.
According to the RNC, officers responded to a report of a weapons offence at around 1:20 a.m. Upon arrival, the suspect confronted officers while armed with two knives, throwing one at them before being taken into custody.
The man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon. He is being held for a court appearance.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
