Man arrested after breaking into mailboxes

On Thursday evening, the RNC were called to a report of a male breaking into Canada Post mailboxes in the centre city area of St. John’s.

Responding officers located a male matching the description standing near several broken mailboxes. The male was subsequently arrested and found to have a screwdriver and several knives in his possession, which he was on a court order not to possess.

The 45-year-old faces charges of mischief, possession of break-in instruments, and breach of release order.

He was held to appear in court this morning.
