Man arrested after assaulting officer and damaging police car in Grand Falls-Windsor

RCMP have arrested and charged 46-year-old Trevor Michelin after police allege that he assaulted a police officer and damaged a police car.

Just after midnight overnight the accused attended the RCMP detachment in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Michelin spoke to an officer inside the building and then departed on foot. Moments later, officers observed him sitting on the hood of a marked patrol car in the parking lot, pulling on the wiper blade of the vehicle.

Officers then exited the detachment and engaged with the individual. He was advised to move away from the patrol car and fix the wiper blade.

Michelin then grabbed the wiper blade a second time and an officer removed him from the hood of the vehicle.

As the officers tried to enter the patrol car, the man grabbed the door and slammed it against one of the officers multiple times.

The officer was not injured, there was damage to the wiper blade and windshield.

The man was charged with assaulting a police officer and mischief under $5000.00.

He was held in police custody to attend court.
