A 30-year-old man faces multiple charges after police responded to a reported disturbance early Monday morning in the Foran Street area.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a 911 call at about 2:21 a.m. Aug. 31.

Police were told a man known to the family had arrived at the residence and was believed to be under the influence of drugs. He allegedly kicked in the door.

Officers located the man at the scene and attempted to arrest him. Police say he resisted arrest and kicked an officer.

The accused was pepper-sprayed during the arrest and taken to hospital before being transported to the lockup.

He faces two counts of property damage, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and four counts of breaching a release order.

The man remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.
