Liberal Party Suspends Leadership Race
The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador has suspended the leadership race.
In an announcement, this morning the party’s executive says that the race is suspended and another decision will be made on May 1.
There is no word on when the race will go ahead.
John Abbott and Dr. Andrew Furey are the only two candidates.
On May 1, 2020, and the decision whether to resume or continue the suspension shall include the following factors:
whether the Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Health and Community Services, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, have continued to invoke the PublicHealth State of Emergency under the Public Health Protection and Promotion Act; and,
whether there exists any other extraordinary public health measures, inclusive of a province-wide State of Emergency, in effect.
