Lewisporte RCMP investigates rash of recent break and enters, seeks public’s assistance
Lewisporte RCMP is seeking assistance from the public following a recent rash of break, enter and thefts at a number of commercial properties in the area that occurred in July, 2024. Police suspect the same individuals are responsible for each of these crimes.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on July 25, two suspects traveling in a small white car arrived on the property of Central Precast and Ready Mix in Lewsiporte. Both suspects exited the car, entered a number of parked vehicles and removed light bars from two commercial vehicles. A truck and cargo trailer that was parked nearby the business was also entered and damaged.
Shortly before midnight on July 22, two suspects forced entry into Treats from the Sea in Lewisporte. A cash register was stolen from inside. The empty register was located damaged, near the property.
Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on July 18, 2024, two suspects, who arrived at the property in a small white or grey car, forced entry into the Pentecostal church in Stoneville. A safe, which was recovered the next day in a wooded area, was stolen from inside the church. A quantity of cash was stolen from inside the safe.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on July 17, two suspects forced entry into Campbellton Berry Farm in Campbellton. A cashbox containing a quantity of money was stolen from inside.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on July 17, two suspects forced entry into Muggee's Place in Baytona and stole a cash drawer containing a quantity of money from the cash register inside.
On the morning of July 15, police received a report of a break and enter that occurred at the Anglican Church in Boyd's Cove sometime between July 12-15. Suspect(s) forced entry into the church. Nothing was stolen.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. on July 14, two suspects forced entry into the fire hall in Boyd's Cove. A third suspect remained outside and appeared to be on the look out while the crime was committed. An alarm sounded on the property and all three suspects departed empty-handed.
A small white, silver or grey car was observed at a number of these crime scenes and a crow bar was used in a number of these break and enters. Surveillance images show that the suspects were wearing face masks or coverings, gloves and hooded sweaters during the commissions of these crimes. One suspect is described as being of a slim build and was wearing jogging pants and rubber boots. Another suspect is described as being a hefty build and was wearing jogging pants and sneakers.
Images of the suspects at various crime scenes are attached. The investigations are continuing.
