LEADER PROFILE: Jim Dinn

Jim Dinn is the leader of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party and represents the district of St. John's Centre. He was first elected in 2019 and again in 2021.


Previously, Dinn served as president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association and had also served on the executive board of the Canadian Teachers' Federation. He also served as president of the Salmonid Association of Eastern Newfoundland.


Dinn did his teaching internship at Netteswell Comprehensive School in England and later taught at Holy Heart of Mary Regional High School.


Dinn is 65-years-old. He married to his wife, Michelle and has three children.
