A large forest fire is burning out of control near chance Harbour on the Bonavista Peninsula at this time.

Message from The Lethbridge and area fire dept

“We are aware and on scene of the fire situation in chance harbour/jamestown area! We are working diligently with aid along with forestry! We will notify if the situation changes, thank you all for notifying us we appreciate it very much”

Forestry is advising anyone in the Chance Harbour Resource Road cabin area to immediately leave the area due to an out-of-control forest fire.

A large plume of smoke can be seen across the area fire department such as Bonavista, Lethbridge, Charlottetown, Eastport and more have received calls about the fire.
