Ground crews working on the Kingston fire are benefiting from cooler temperatures and light drizzle this morning.

There are local and British Columbia crews, along with local fire departments, continuing to monitor and action hot spots on the western edge of the fire. Aerial assets were delayed this morning due to weather but are ready to be actioned when conditions allow.

The status of the Kingston wildfire changed to "Being Held" yesterday. The fire has not spread beyond its current boundaries, estimated at 10,095 hectares.

Residents are advised that while the wildfire is being held, the fire is burning deep into the ground - in some places up to six feet below the surface. As a result, residents will see ongoing smoke in the area in the coming days. Open flames or thick smoke should be reported immediately.
