Kelseys restaurant reopening on March 5, after a fire temporarily closed the business in late February

Kelseys restaurant in St John's is now re-opening on March 5th, after a incident that occurred on Saturday (Feb 22)
Firefighters with the St John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) responded to a report of a electrical fire at Kelseys restaurant located on Kenmount Road, just before 10:30 a.m, when firefighters arrived on the scene, they received information that there was a small fire in the wall, at the rear of the building.
Fire crews gain access to the building and quickly located the cause of the smoke and fire, crews quickly deployed attack lines and extinguished the fire, however crews were on the scene for another hour to ensure there were no remaining hotspots within the walls that may have extended further up the walls into the roof. Crews used a chainsaw to gain access to the rear wall from the exterior, which caused moderate damage to the building, there was also smoke damage throughout the building.
Kelseys restaurant staff stated on a social media post, that the restaurant will be open for business on March 5th at 11:00 a.m.
