Justin Bieber announced that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome type 2 on Friday.

As a result, Bieber said that half of his face was paralyzed.

He has cancelled numerous concerts and appearances due to the condition

Ramsay Hunt syndrome type 2 is a disorder that is caused by the reactivation of varicella zoster virus. The condition typically presents with the inability to move many facial muscles, pain in the ear, taste loss on the front of the tongue, dry eyes and mouth, and a vesicular rash.

At this time it is not clear how long it would likely take for Bieber to recover sufficiently to perform.
