Investigation launched after sudden death at Her Majesty's Penitentiary

An investigation is underway following a sudden death at Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John's that occurred last week.

An inmate had been discovered in his cell unresponsive on Thursday.

He was transported to the hospital where he died on Sunday.

The cause of death has not been released.
