Intoxicated male arrested following incident in Mount Pearl

Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a report of an intoxicated male in the area of Commonwealth Avenue in Mount Pearl at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.


Upon arrival, officers located the male who appeared to be heavily under the influence of alcohol. Police investigated the scene and it was determined that the male was on a court order to abstain from the possession and consumption of alcohol. Officers attempted to put the male under arrest but then the male threatened and assaulted one of the officers.


As a result, A 34-year-old male now faces charges of Assaulting a Police Officer, Uttering Threats, Resisting Arrest, and Breach of a Release Order.


The male was held to appear in court in the morning. No officers were injured during the incident.
