Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue Boat stations across Atlantic Canada are closed for the season as the 2026 recreational boating season winds down.

The stations closing are:

  • Conception Bay, in Conception Bay South

  • Bonavista Bay, in Terra Nova National Park

  • Notre Dame Bay, in Lewisporte

The Inshore Rescue Boat program employs and trains post-secondary students across Canada to provide additional maritime search and rescue services during the busy summer months.

While the seasonal Inshore Rescue Boat stations are closing, Canadian Coast Guard seasonal search and rescue stations across Atlantic Canada will remain in operation until Dec. 31, weather and ice conditions permitting.

Year-round Canadian Coast Guard stations will also remain operational, while Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers and their vessels continue to be available to respond to boaters in distress.
