Inmate Charged After Assaulting Correctional Officer

RNC officers responded to an incident at the St. John’s City Lock-up after reports of an assault on a correctional officer on Sunday.

According to authorities, a 31-year-old female inmate punched the officer in the face during the altercation. As a result, she has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, along with multiple breaches of court orders.

Law enforcement officials have not released further details about the officer’s condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
