Increase to the Minimum Wage in April

An increase is coming to the minimum wage in the province. On April 1, the minimum wage will increase by $0.60 bringing it to $15.60 per hour.

Minimum overtime wage rate will increase to $23.40.

This increase is required under the Labour Standards Regulations and is based on the percentage change in the National Consumer Price Index.

Minister Responsible for Labour Bernard Davis said, “The Provincial Government recognizes the importance of the minimum wage and continues to monitor and review labour standards legislation to ensure it remains relevant, responsive and comparable to jurisdictions across the country. We continue to work to find a balanced approach for both employers and wage earners in the province.”
