Improvements at Motor Registration

New drivers can now complete their class 5 drivers permit test electronically through their MyGovNL account.

Residents of the province can create a MyGovNL account using their email address. Then, by linking either a Motor Registration issued photo identification card or MCP card, eligible candidates may access the online driver’s test.

Like the paper-based format, the electronic test consists of two parts: road sign recognition test and knowledge-based questions. Both parts must be completed successfully to pass the test.

Once successful, the individual is directed to schedule an appointment to complete the permit. During the visit, staff will verify the documents, review the test results, conduct a vision test and process the individual’s photo.
