A 57-year-old Carbonear woman was charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday night, RCMP said.
Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a report of a crash on Powell Drive shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. Police located the female driver at the scene, where she was not injured.
Officers said the driver showed signs of impairment and failed a roadside breath test. She was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the RCMP detachment, where she provided additional breath samples measuring more than twice the legal limit.
The woman’s vehicle was seized and impounded. She was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court at a later date to face charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
