Impaired driver hits car, flees area with flat tire

A 48-year-old male was arrested after the RNC responded to a possible impaired driver in the west end of St. John’s on Monday evening.

A member of the public reported that the male driver had just struck her vehicle and continued to drive away on a flat tire.

Police located the damaged vehicle and driver a short distance away. After a brief investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

The male provided breath samples, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 3.5 times the legal limit.

The man was released from custody, charged with impaired driving, driving over .80, driving while suspended and failure to stop at an accident scene
