Impaired driver arrested after fleeing from police
Overnight, the RNC attempted a traffic stop on Mundy Pond Road in St. John’s. The driver had other ideas and fled from police at a high rate of speed.
For safety reasons, officers did not pursue the vehicle, but a short time later Officers and RNC K9 Services located the vehicle abandoned.
RNC K9 Cabot located the driver a short distance away from the vehicle.
As a result, a 63-year-old male was arrested for dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest, impaired driving, and refusal of the breathalyzer.
His vehicle was impounded and he was held for court in the morning.
