Ice fisher who fell through ice is safe

The RCMP in Gander confirmed that an individual did fall through the ice, as suspected, while ice fishing in the southern end of Indian Arm Pond on Friday but was able to return to safety.

Search efforts were underway on Friday evening after police received a report of a hole in the ice with an ice auger sticking out from it and a cushion used for sitting during ice fishing nearby.

The efforts were called off on Saturday morning when an individual responded to the RCMP’s appeal to the public for information on anyone who was ice fishing in the area.
