Hydro evacuates non-essential personnel from Holyrood Generating Station

Earlier this evening, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro evacuated all non-essential personnel from the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station.

At this time, the plant and surrounding site have been secured with emergency personnel, while it is safe to do so, overnight to monitor the situation.

The Holyrood plant does not generate power in the summer months and is currently undergoing annual maintenance.
