Hunting and Angling Training Events for Youth
The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is partnering with local rod and gun clubs and other community organizations, to host events that support and encourage youth participation and awareness in wildlife conservation and safe and responsible hunting and angling activities.
These events will provide youth with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge, and learn new skills in a safe environment, with coaching and supervision from qualified instructors and volunteers. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
There will be events in Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Lewisporte, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The following schedule is tentative based on weather:

July 31 – Upper Humber Rod and Gun Association, Deer Lake
August 7 – Notre Dame Rod and Gun Club, Lewisporte
August 28 – Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Shooting Range, Happy Valley-Goose Bay
Sessions include hands-on learning in wildlife conservation, firearm safety, rifle and shotgun shooting basics, archery, outdoor survival, orienteering, wildlife identification and fly-fishing techniques.
Pre-registration is required for each event and participant numbers will be based on capacity and Public Health Guidelines for COVID 19.
