The RCMP are asking any possible witnesses to

come forward after a roadside robbery and assault near the Brigus Junction exit of the Trans-Canada Highway this afternoon.

Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, police in the Avalon East District responded to a report of an assault on the westbound Brigus Junction exit of the TCH. The driver of a disabled vehicle was attempting to fix her vehicle on the side of the road when she was approached by two unknown males, who struck her, stole her purse and fled the scene.

The suspects are two males, possibly in their 20s with dark hair. One was dressed in a dark hoodie and jeans, and the other was wearing dark-coloured sweatpants. They were driving a dark blue car, possibly a Honda Civic, last seen traveling westbound on the TCH.

The woman was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

RCMP believes that other drivers who stopped at or passed by the scene may have information or dash cam footage that can assist in the investigation. Anyone who was traveling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway in the area of Brigus Junction between 2:30 -3:00 p.m., and who has available dash camera video or who witnessed this interaction are asked to contact Holyrood RCMP as soon as possible at (709) 229-3892.
