Holyrood RCMP responds to report of impaired driver, man arrested

A 44-year-old Paradise man was arrested for impaired operation on July 13, 2024, by Holyrood RCMP after the report of a suspected impaired driver on the Trans-Canada Highway.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a suspected impaired driver departing a gas station on the TCH. A short time later, a second report of the same vehicle was received informing that the vehicle was traveling east in the westbound lanes of travel near Butter Pot Park.

Holyrood RCMP located the vehicle near Witless Bay Line and conducted a traffic stop. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. Back at the detachment the man provided breath samples that were more than one and a half times the legal limit. He was released from custody and is set to appear in court in September, 2024, to answer to charges of impaired operation. The vehicle was impounded and the man’s driver’s licence was suspended.
