The Town of Harbour Grace announced plans for a public celebration marking the return of its restored Amelia Earhart statue today.

The “Amelia’s Return Celebration” is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis School on Cathedral Street in Harbour Grace. The statue was stolen back in April and was retrieved in August.

According to event organizers, the celebration would mark the 94th anniversary of aviator Amelia Earhart’s historic flight from the community.

The event was set to feature a performance by the St. Francis School choir, an Amelia Earhart impersonator, and the unveiling of the refurbished statue, which had been restored by the Newfoundland Bronze Foundry.

Organizers said snacks and refreshments would be provided by Earhart’s 50+ Club and Jess Brennan Bakes.

The Town of Harbour Grace invited residents and visitors alike to attend the celebration, describing it as a chance to honour an important part of the community’s aviation history.
