Harbour Grace RCMP investigating crash; driver flees scene

The RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred on the Veteran’s Memorial Highway near the Harbour Grace exit on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were notified that a Ford Escape was resting on its side on the roadway.

Witnesses at the scene noticed the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was picked up by another motorist and departed the area prior to police arrival.

Officers discovered that the vehicle was uninsured and a number of alcoholic beverages were located inside.

The SUV was seized.

It is likely the driver suffered injuries during this collision. The investigation into the identity of the driver and the cause of the collision is continuing.
