Haggie in Hot Water After Attending Fundraising Event

Health Minister John Haggie had landed himself in some hot water after attending a small fundraising event in St. John's at the Bally Haly clubhouse.

Through a Facebook post, Haggie clarified that the facility has a seating capacity of 220 people and there were only 23 people in attendance.

He added that all attendees wore masks when not seated at their table for a meal. All attendees filled in a COVID-19 screening questionnaire upon entry and names were recorded for contact tracing purposes. Hand sanitizer was placed on every table as well.

That didn't stop people on social media from questioning why the Minister went there when he has been asking people to avoid large gatherings and calling it a "double standard".

Minister Haggie said that all protocols were followed.
