The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is offering support to Badger residents as they face an evacuation.
The Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium is being used as a reception centre for evacuees. Town staff are on-site assisting the Canadian Red Cross with registration of Badger residents. Jones Street is closed to all traffic until further notice to allow clear and consistent access to the Stadium.
Centennial Field is open for Badger residents who need a place to safely store campers, RVs, skidoos, quads, and large items. 24/7 security will be on-site.
Pets are welcome. Pet owners are encouraged to bring a crate or kennel if available, to help with safe and comfortable sheltering.
Due to the extra traffic on town roads, residents are asked to exercise caution.
There is currently no immediate threat to Grand Falls-Windsor, but conditions can change quickly during wildfire season.
