The provincial and federal governments have announced disaster relief funding for eligible Newfoundland and Labrador farmers affected by widespread drought conditions in 2025.
The initiative is designed to help livestock producers offset the costs of purchasing and transporting animal feed following significant forage losses caused by drought.
The AgriRecovery program provides targeted financial assistance to agricultural producers facing extraordinary costs related to disaster recovery. The 2025 drought significantly reduced forage production across the province, affecting dairy, beef cattle, sheep and goat operations that rely heavily on forage crops to feed livestock.
Funding under AgriRecovery is cost-shared on a 60–40 basis between the federal government and participating provinces and territories, under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
Program guides and application forms are now available, and the deadline to apply is March 2, 2026.
