Government releases report reviewing sections of the fishing industry bargaining act

On Friday the provincial government released the independent report reviewing sections of the fishing industry collective bargaining act.

The review was completed by David Conway and outlined a number of recommendations aimed at modernizing parts of the collective bargaining model. The 20 recommendations will be reviewed by the government.

In a statement, FFAW-Unifor President Keith Sullivan said, “the next step will be finding a way to turn these recommendations into reality, and we look forward to working closely with the provincial government to ensure that happens.”

Minister of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture said, "I look forward to advancing towards a more orderly fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
