Government provides funding for additional out-of-hospital cataract procedures

To reduce wait times and improve access to cataract surgery, the provincial government is providing funding for an additional 1,500 out-of-hospital cataract procedures.

These new surgeries will be allocated across the province amongst the three non-hospital designated facilities. There are two facilities in the eastern zone and one in the western zone.

COVID-19 had a negative impact on cataract surgery wait times and there is currently a backlog.
