Government Highlights Ratified Agreement with NLMA

The provincial government and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association have signed a new 2023-27 Memorandum of Agreement.
This agreement helps improve physician recruitment and retention and makes Newfoundland and Labrador a more attractive place for Memorial University of Newfoundland medical graduates, as well as Canadian, and internationally-trained physicians.
Highlights of the new agreement include:
Compensation increases that bring all disciplines to competitive levels.
Increased compensation for some emergency departments, including after-hours premiums.
A new payment model to increase access to community primary care.
Dedicated funding for continuing professional development for all physicians.
Increased physician benefits.
The new agreement is effective from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2027.
