Fuel prices rise once again to start the weekend

Fuel prices are increasing across Newfoundland and Labrador again today, with gasoline seeing the largest jump.

The Public Utilities Board increased the maximum price of all types of gasoline by 3.3 cents per litre.

Diesel prices on the Island went up by 1.4 cents per litre, while diesel in western Labrador rose by 2.3 cents per litre.

Heating fuel prices also went up.

Furnace oil on the Island increased by 1.15 cents per litre, while stove oil in western Labrador jumped by 2.32 cents per litre.

The maximum price for propane heating fuel went up by 1 cent per litre.

The Public Utilities Board says the changes are based on the most recently available average market data as of the close of business on Aug. 26.

As a result, the new prices do not reflect more recent activity in fuel markets.

The Board's next scheduled price adjustment is Saturday, Aug. 29.
