Gas prices in Newfoundland and Labrador are staying nearly the same, dropping by just 0.1 cents per litre, while diesel prices are increasing by 4 cents per litre across the province. Heating fuel prices are decreasing slightly, with furnace oil down 1.58 cents per litre on the Island and stove oil down 1.53 cents per litre in Labrador.
The Public Utilities Board says the changes reflect current market conditions and rising supplier costs tied to the federal Clean Fuel Regulations.
The Board is also increasing the Carbon Price Adjustment used in gasoline and diesel pricing:
Gasoline rises from 5.4 to 10.5 cents per litre
Diesel rises from 6.02 to 11 cents per litre
The Board says the higher adjustment is needed because suppliers are facing significantly higher compliance costs under stricter federal clean energy rules. Heating fuels are not affected by the carbon price adjustment.
The next fuel price adjustment is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026.
