Firefighters Rescue Four Pets from Fire in a St. John’s Home on Monday

Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to a home on Wickham Place in St. John’s at around 12:40 p.m. on Monday.

When firefighters arrived, they quickly laid an attack line to knock down the fire, which was contained to the basement of the home. Crews also made entry to the upstairs part of the home where two cats and two dogs were located and rescued; the two cats were given oxygen by firefighters and paramedics on scene.

The home did sustain fire, water, and smoke damage. At least one person has been displaced from the home. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The scene was left with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary for investigation.
