Fire causes significant damage to a home in the Goulds, late Saturday night
A fire that broke out in Goulds on Saturday night resulted in significant damage to a residence.
Emergency crews responded to the fire on Main Road close to Cox's Lane around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, smoke was observed billowing from the front of the house. Both the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) and Goulds Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident. Fire crews effectively battled the flames, bringing most of the fire under control within half an hour. Firefighters diligently worked for the following hour and a half to ensure no remaining hot spots or embers posed a threat.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Nevertheless, the house suffered extensive fire damage, as well as smoke and water damage throughout.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
