Emergency Debate called in the House of Assembly

Premier Andrew Furey has re-convened the House of Assembly for an emergency debate regarding the ongoing labour dispute between private ambulance operators and Teamsters Local 855.

The House of Assembly will convene on Monday for an emergency debate to enact the Essential Ambulance Services Act.

This Act will make private ambulance services essential, which Furey said in a statement "is necessary in order to protect the safety of patients, particularly given the current challenges within the health care system across Canada, including in our province."

The Speaker has advised Members that the House of Assembly will reconvene on Monday, January 23 at 10:00 am.
