Emergency crews locate lost individual near Whiteway Pond in Torbay

On Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:39 pm members of Operational Patrol Services were called by a member of the public who had become lost in the wooded area near Whiteway Pond, in the town of Torbay.

The male called using his cell phone and stated he had gone to that area to go swimming earlier in the evening however had gotten lost. Police were able to get the male’s GPS location using a cell phone ping however the phone battery then died.

RNC Police Dog Services K9 “Cabot”, as well as the assistance of the ROVERS,

the male was located approx. 1:55 am (Sunday August 25, 2024) on a trail system in the area.

The 48 year old male was in good health and was returned home without further incident.
