Drunk driver injured in rollover crash in Freshwater to face charges

On Thursday morning police received a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash in Freshwater between Carbonear and Victoria.

The 43-year-old male driver and his passenger were medically assessed at the scene by paramedics.

Once the driver was medically cleared, he was taken into police custody. As a result of the investigation, the driver provided samples in excess of the legal limit for alcohol.

The driver was released from police custody. He will appear in court at a later date to answer to impaired driving charges.

The man’s vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence suspended.

The RCMP is asking that anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to the police to call the Harbour Grace detachment at (709) 596-5014.
