Driver strikes parked car and is arrested for drug-impaired driving

On Tuesday evening the RCMP arrested a 33-year-old man in Bay Roberts for suspected drug-impaired driving. The man hit a parked vehicle in the parking lot of a local business.
RCMP responded to the report of the collision and attended the scene. The parked vehicle, having three occupants, was struck by an SUV.
The driver, who showed signs of drug impairment, was arrested and found in possession of a number of prescription pills.
The SUV, which was seized and impounded and was equipped with an ignition interlock device, stemming from a previous impaired driving conviction against the driver.
There were no injuries.
Police transported the man to the detachment and completed an evaluation drug influence evaluation.
His driver’s licence was suspended and the man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
