Driver owing $17K in fines clocked at 141 km/h on TCH

A 42-year-old man is facing multiple charges after being stopped for excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway in St. John's.
Around 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, an RNC officer observed a vehicle travelling at 141 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was conducted, and officers determined the driver was operating the vehicle while suspended.
The man was issued summary offence tickets for speeding and driving while suspended. Police say he also had approximately $17,000 in outstanding fines.
The vehicle involved was impounded.
