A 33-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police during an attempted traffic stop in St. John’s early Sunday morning.

RNC officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Topsail Road at approximately 1:40 a.m. on July 5.

Police said the driver failed to stop and fled the area. Other officers who were nearby assisted and were able to bring the vehicle to a stop a short time later.

Following an investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with flight from police and refusing to comply with a breathalyzer demand.

The vehicle was seized and impounded by police.

The accused was later released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
