Driver Caught Going Wrong Way, Then Flees Police in Corner Brook #nltraffic


On Monday morning RNC observed a vehicle driving on Herald Avenue in Corner Brook in the wrong direction on a one-way road.


The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed towards Park Street.


Police did not pursue the vehicle but multiple police units attended the area and within minutes located the suspect vehicle abandoned behind a commercial property on Park Street.


Officers searched the area on foot patrol and located the driver lying on the ground between two buildings in the area.


The 21-year-old male driver was arrested without incident and charged with Dangerous Operation, Flight from Police, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Blood-Alcohol Concentration 80 mg% or over.


The driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and will appear in Provincial Court in November.


The vehicle was impounded.
