Director of Public Prosecutions Addresses Allegations of Political Interference

Lloyd Strickland the Director of Public Prosecutions said today that there has not been any political interference or pressure in regard to any decision or case being considered or prosecuted by Public Prosecutions.
A leaked document references text messages between Sherry Gambin Walsh and Acting RNC Inspector Paul Didham.
RNC Chief Joe Boland says that there was no input from elected officials.
Former RNC officer Joseph Smyth was charged in 2018 with obstruction of justice following a thorough investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
Smyth was convicted at trial, and that conviction was overturned after an appeal.
Smyth has asked the RCMP to investigate if there was any interference by former Justice Minister Andrew Parsons.
