DFO to outline management plans for key Newfoundland and Labrador fisheries

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is expected to provide an update today on its management approach for several key commercial fisheries in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The department has scheduled a technical briefing this morning to discuss management plans for major commercial fisheries in the province.

More details will be released at approximately 11:30 a.m. NDT.

Fisheries management decisions announced by the federal government can affect harvest levels, conservation measures, season dates and access for commercial fish harvesters throughout Newfoundland and Labrador's fishing industry.
