COVID-19 cases rise and new restrictions in place


This weekend there are 61 new cases of COVID-19 in the province.


Of the new cases, 18 are in Eastern Health, 32 are in Central Health, 10 are in Western Health, and 1 are in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region.


As of today, there are 127 active cases. There were 10 new recoveries.


No one is in hospital.


There are nine cases of the Omicron variant and 32 presumptive cases of the variant.


As of 3:00 pm on Tuesday, fully vaccinated travellers will be required to isolate for five days after arriving in the province.


SCHOOL UPDATE:

Classes in the K to 12 system will reopen tomorrow except for those that closed recently. Schools will close to students on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students are asked to retrieve all materials tomorrow. Schools are scheduled to reopen on January 4.

Cases are spiking across Canada. Nova Scotia reported 476 new cases today and there are 108 new cases in New Brunswick. Ontario had 4,177 new cases of COVID-19.
